Download legacy of thieves ps57/6/2023 ![]() ![]() The real joy here is the sense of scale and purpose, the franchise’s familiar formula of shoot-outs and spelunking embellished by expansive, quasi-open world backdrops and also tempered by the new emphasis on the quieter moments in-between the bullet ballets.ĭruckmann’s vaguely semi-autobiographical exploration of the effects of an all-encompassing – and potentially self-destructive – professional obsession on personal relationships (he embarked on Uncharted 4 shortly after starting a family) is played out in scenes of domestic drama as well as international action. The graphics have been given a next-gen glow-up, with players now able to choose between full 4K visuals or a sublimely smooth 60/120 frames per second performance mode, but it was always a precociously good looking game. Replaying Uncharted 4 six years on, it’s striking just how well it stands up today. The fourth Uncharted instalment, A Thief’s End, marked the point at which auteur-ish gamemaker Neil Druckmann took creative control of the studio, returning to the series on which he made his name as a writer and subtly remoulding it in the image of his directorial debut, The Last of Us. On Sony’s watch, Californian codeshop Naughty Dog has grown into one of the top tier development houses in the world, specialising in character-driven action adventures with sumptuous production values and Hollywood-grade set-pieces. You could argue the merits of each approach until the virtual cows return to their metaverse fields – and, inevitably, fanboys on both sides have already started to. You couldn’t wish for a more timely – or on the nose – example of Sony and Microsoft’s diverging business models than the former releasing a £40 remaster of their lavish last-gen single-player adventure Uncharted 4 in the same month as the latter splashed out $69bn on Activision Blizzard in order to add Call of Duty to their subscription offering, Game Pass. ![]()
